Questions / FAQ

Basic Line

At what ambient temperatures can the luminaires be operated?

At ta 0°C to 45°C

Boston

Where is the supply cable mounted?

The cable runs out of the arm on the right-hand side next to the switch.

EBS 4

The luminaires switch on by themselves.

The sensor cable should not be coiled up, should not be laid parallel to other cables or electrical appliances, and should be shortened, if possible.

When there is a power failure, does the switch automatically return to its last setting before the interruption?

No, the EBS does not remember its last setting if for instance the main switch is also operated (central switch on the display). In this case it is always off.

How much power does it consume in standby mode?

approx. 0.7W

Can I connect multiple sensor cables?

Yes, if you simply connect the sensor cables using a luster terminal. However, this can cause functional problems (see above).

How can I connect multiple transformers?

An additional transformer can be connected using a Euro Y-distributor (21503160101 with one Euro plug and two Euro couplings).

FD 44

How many luminaires can be connected to one strip light (automatic cut-out)?

The number in the table refers to an N-circuit 16A with type B switch-off characteristic. Double the number of luminaires can be fitted when using the type C circuit.

FD 5

Do I need extra control cable for the dimmable luminaires?

No, the control cables are positioned parallel to the mains supply in the luminaire with Mini AMP-plug or socket. No further control cable is needed where there is a clearance of up to 40cm between luminaires.

What is important to remember when dimming luminaires?

New lamps should be burned (seasoned) at full power for 100 hours to stabilise the discharge.  Otherwise colour discrepancies can occur and the lamp life is reduced considerably (T5 only about 6,000 hours)

What is the current on the control line?

<1mA

How many luminaires can be connected in a continuous row (automatic cut-out)?

The number in the table refers to an N-circuit 16A with type B switch-off characteristic. Double of the number of luminaires can be fitted when using the type C circuit.

FD 8

Do I need extra control cable for the dimmable luminaires?

No, the control cables are positioned parallel to the mains supply in the luminaire with Mini AMP-plug or socket. To install the luminaires diagonally across a corner you only need a short connecting cable M46.1 200mm.

What is important to remember when dimming luminaires?

New lamps should be burned (seasoned) at full power for 100 hours to stabilise the discharge.  Otherwise colour discrepancies can occur, and the lamp life is reduced considerably. (T5 only about 6,000 hours)

What is the current on the control line?

<1mA

Should I take any special precautions when the luminaires are installed?

When mounting T5 luminaires (T8 if desired) vertically the lamps should be installed so that the "cool spot" (stamped on the tube) is at the bottom. When mounting them horizontally, the "cool spots" (stamped on the tube) should be next to each other.

How many luminaires can be connected in a continuous row (automatic cut-out)?

The number in the table refers to an N-circuit 16A with type B switch-off characteristic. Double the number of luminaires can be fitted when using the type C circuit.

GS 2

Where is the cable mounted?

On the right-hand side next to the switch 25mm from the bottom and 140mm from the right.

IR Switch 24V

Does the switch automatically return to its last setting when a power failure occurs?

No, the IR switch does not remember its last setting, if e.g. it has an additional primary connection (central switch on the display). It is always in off mode.

Is it possible to connect several sensors in parallel?

Yes, using function 2 (as a door contact), several switches can be connected to a distributor as secondary switches. (The light comes on, when any door is opened).

How much power does it consume in standby mode?

approx. 0,3W

IR-S / IR-DS

How far away from the door can it be?

The distance between the IR-DS sensor and the door should be no greater than 50mm.

Does the sensor work with a glass door?

Yes, clear glass reflects the IR rays of the sensor and can therefore be used as a switching surface.

When there is a power failure, does the switch automatically return to its last setting before the interruption?

Yes, the IR-S remembers its last setting if for instance the main switch is also operated (central switch on the display).

How much power does it consume in standby mode?

approx. 1.4W

Does an IR-S2 or IR-DS2 still function when only one of the two sensors is connected?

No, both sensors need to be connected. If only one sensor is required, the second one must be installed in such a way that an object is either always (IR-DS2) or never (IR-DS2) in its coverage area.

How can I connect multiple transformers?

An additional transformer can be connected using a Euro Y- distributor (21503160101 with a Euro plug and two Euro couplings).

KB 12

Why can only the KB 12 in 10W be used with the spacer ring?

Because it is so small, using 20W and spacer ring would overheat the mounting surface at the front.

LED 350/2x9W dim

Can I operate the transformer with a standard dimmer switch?

No, not with a leading edge or trailing edge phase dimmer. You can use our 1-10V dimmer switch which adjusts only the level of brightness. The transformer must be switched on and off via the supply cable with Euro plug. Any other 1-10V dimmer switch may be used to perform both functions, but in this case the control cables and the supply cable of the transformer must be connected to the dimmer switch by an electrician.

Can I operate the transformer without a dimmer switch?

Yes, without a dimmer switch the transformer will run on max. brightness.

What is the current on the control line?

<1mA

LED L-Pad with IR-Switch

Can I convert an L-Pad with an IR switch (e.g. from a set) into a standard lamp without an IR function, if everything has to have an additional primary connection?

Yes, but the cables previously connected to the separate 12 way distributor must be connected to the transformer's distributor. The second cable and the additional distributor are no longer required! Only the orientation LED can now be activated by the IR sensor.
